Purpose in Action: A Gathering of Changemakers
What a night! Nearly 100 changemakers came together last night for Purpose in Action: A Gathering of Changemakers - a dynamic, sold-out event co-hosted by B Local Ontario and the Canadian Purpose Economy Project (CPEP) at the stunning offices of Public Inc
Attendees heard from incredible leaders shaping the future of purpose-led business in Canada including:
- Arni Mikelsons, B Local Ontario on building a community of B Corps and supporters to drive change and take action here in Ontario.
- Taharka Gibb, GreenShield on redefining impact with over $75 million donated to support over a million Canadians and their ambitious targets to help more Canadians.
- Liz McBeth, Armour Valve on embedding purpose into strategy to drive resilience and industry transformation.
- Taylor Stanley, Riverside Natural Foods Ltd. (Home of MadeGood) Foods on the real-world benefits of being both a B Corp and a purpose-driven organisation.
- Coro Strandberg, Mike Rowlands of the Canadian Purpose Economy Project & Maureen Young, Coast Capital Savings on building the purpose economy that Canada truly needs.
The room was buzzing until late, filled with experts and trailblazers like Brad Offman (Greater Purpose), Mary Ellen Schaafsma (Purpose Pathways), Clementina Consens (B Lab U.S. & Canada), Gordon Goldschleger (MBA, CPCC) Tara Milburn (Ethical Swag Inc., a Certified B Corp), and Elizabeth Dove (UN Global Compact Network Canada) - and so many more who are making purpose the new standard for success.
The key takeaway: purpose and profit aren’t opposing forces - they’re powerful partners. Businesses that lead with purpose are not just building stronger brands; they’re building a stronger, more equitable and resilient Canada.
