Fair Compensation Campaign Update

Ontario Energy Board to Review Enbridge Model Franchise Agreement

There is some good news about the Ontario Energy Board providing notice that they will be reviewing the Model Franchise Agreement between Ontario municipalities and Enbridge -- the agreement that includes the fact that Enbridge does not need to pay for the use of public land for their gas pipes.

They have not yet stated that the review will include municipalities being able to charge for use of their right-of-way.

The Clean Air Partnership works with municipal councils across Ontario and is asking them to send the message to the province and the OEB that municipalities desire the ability to charge for use of the municipal right-of-way to be within scope of the review (the actual change to enable municipalities to charge for use of the right-of-way is in the Municipal Act) as well as removing the ability for Enbridge to abandon infrastructure in the right-of-way without municipal permission (which would be within the model franchise agreement).

Please help B Local Ontario support these initiatives, by signing our Petition for Fair Compensation to ask Enbridge to be a good corporate citizen and pay their fair share.
